An online mode enables you to challenge other players in ranked or unranked games in several skill level game rooms. King of the Diamond is a game similar to the Home Run Derby but it allows players to score on singles doubles and triples. Misses: So many controls for players, pitchers and batters are a bit overwhelming. When you dig into the printed manual five pages of player controls and eleven pages of credits are a tip off to the complexity of the game.

I wish there was more to do and quickly accomplish in minute play sessions though. The fielding mechanic is still too simple though as you only have to press the right base button and the game does the rest. Online : Some guys like Dan Haren are still hard to pitch with online but the fact that you can still get MLB news on the run or new roster updates on a handheld is still amazing to me even a few years later. I hope that 09 isn't just somewhat of a repeat of this one, and maybe have a real Franchise mode versus Season, and maybe a fantasy draft as well. But I am still excited for a good baseball game. Good job! And loving the STL being represented through Mr. Howard on the cover. Good, balanced review.

I'm a newcomer to the series, so I'm very impressed with the game on the PSP. You bring up a lot of good points for vets of the series, though, so they can decide if a new purchase is warranted.

I do agree on the load times between games in RTTS. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice if you could get through games a bit quicker; or have the in-game save feature for RTTS.

Like many people including the writer of this review , I felt that this year's game was way too similar to last year, and that was just from playing the demo. Initially, I had decided that there wasn't anything new enough to justify another purchase this year. Providing players with some additional performance incentives, the MLB franchise introduces the new Progressive Batting Performance feature, which both rewards players for superior performance and penalize them for hitting slumps.

Specific to each individual batter, players are rewarded with slight contact bonuses, or punished with slight decreases in contact, based on how that batter that performs beyond his "natural ability" while under user control. PSX Extreme. The PSP version of the game still features practically everything that makes the PS3 game so great, with even a few extra modes.
