Florida legal services program

Not all seniors can afford their own attorney or even know where to turn to find one. A number of legal resources are available in Florida to help seniors with legal issues. These resources are listed below. The Senior Legal Helpline provides free legal advice and brief services by telephone to eligible Florida residents age 60 and older, for civil not criminal legal problems.

The Senior Legal Helpline — — also provides solutions to seniors to help them resolve their legal problems, makes referrals to state and local regulatory agencies and, when it is determined that court representation is necessary, helps seniors find legal providers in their communities.

Most callers will receive answers to their legal questions during the initial telephone appointment. You do a wonderful job with the kids that require our help and support the people in need all over the globe. I will definitely join you as a volunteer!

It's always a pleasure to work with these guys - they know what they want and that is why they achieve their goals. Thanks a lot for the team spirit and your work! Your performance under the most trying circumstances was nothing less than exemplary. You are the sole reason our rescue mission actually happened! CLSMF can also help with probate matters including guardianship defense, wills, living wills, small estates, and powers of attorney. To determine eligibility for our services, we will ask you questions about your household income.

Please be prepared with all of the papers regarding your legal problem. Lawyers in a legal aid office provide the same legal services as any other attorneys. They can advise and represent you in most areas of civil law, although each program has priorities for the type of cases they will take. Because the number of people demanding legal services exceeds the amount of staff and money available to handle cases, CLSMF cannot take every case.

Criminal cases are not handled because the state provides public defenders to represent persons accused of criminal actions who cannot afford private attorneys. Also, the legal aid offices generally do not deal with cases where a person is seeking money as a settlement.
