If some animals could talk, I am sure they would tell you they also believe. They would be happy to tell you that they have multiple Santas and what they are like. That the ones they have come to know are kind, generous, benevolent, and are gentle in hand and voice. That these Santas give without expectation, recognition, or reciprocation. That some of the ones they know are the committed staff of the Tehama County Animal Care Center, who ensure that not only are they given shelter and food, but that they are also shown compassion and affection.
To continue on, you need look no further for Santa representation than the devoted shelter volunteers and rescue groups who continually dedicate hours of effort to make sure the animals at the center have every opportunity to get a forever loving home. Their enthusiasm and unwavering commitment epitomize what the best of humanity should be. There are also the animal control officers and the veterinary clinics, who often are the first ones present during difficult and emotionally gut- wrenching situations, and yet they continue to persevere.
In addition, businesses and people that have been facing their own hurdles and financial burdens still managed to donate monies and supplies to aid helpless souls. And not to be discounted, all the families this year who opened their hearts and their homes to adopt a homeless animal taught us a great deal about the expansiveness of the human heart. Through the diligence, generosity and teamwork of many, comfort, peace and joy came to a vast number of the abandoned and abused who would not have otherwise had a promising future, or a future at all.
These people share themselves and give love where none has been before. They provide hope and light in a dark world.
